Sony Ericsson W995 Front View

WiFi failure

I recently (23 August) downloaded the updated software now have software version 1212-7995 R1FA035 090723
The WiFi now cuts out ('Communication error. Try again, turn off WiFi or contact your provider for support')
a. this did not happen before the software update
b. there is another W995 in the house that has no such problems.
Is there something in the menu that I can adapt? WEP codes are correct.
Is the software update suspect?
It accesses the internet directly without wireless and all other functions seem OK.
I need the WiFi to work & it doesn't!!

Same problem here. After analyzing, I found out that DHCP-client of the phone sucked (getting a weird IP-adress), so I set up a static connection and even filled in a DNS-adress (I filled in a static IP-adress, static Gateway, another subnetmask; not 255.255.255.255 as original, but 255.255.255.0, and like I said the DNS of my provider. And it works fine now! It connects even in a blink of an eye (not having to negotiate with the router for an IP, since it communicates its own IP to the router). Since the settings are only to that connection, it doesn't influence connections with other WiFi stations (which will succeed there, or will fail in which case you have to set up that connection manually)
